Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Dawn has become essentially new vessel, following a month-long dry dock as part of a $400-million Norwegian Edge upgrade program. The ship features two new restaurants and three new lounges and updated design and décor in all public spaces.
New for the Norwegian fleet is the a la carte Los Lobos Cantina, an upscale Mexican restaurant that offers modern takes on traditional favorites like al pastor tacos, enchiladas de mole and margaritas. A guest favorite on other ships, O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill is making its debut on Norwegian Dawn, featuring sports bar décor and pub fare and beers on tap. A new wine bar, The Cellars, a Michael Mondavi Family Wine Bar replaces the former Pearly King Pub. Sugarcane Mojito Bar will serve up more than 15 varieties of mojitos on Deck 13, adjacent to the new location for Moderno Churrascaria.
Every stateroom on the ship was enhanced during this renovation, receiving new carpets, bedding, drapery, artwork, flat screen TVs and furniture. The dry dock also allowed for a complete makeover of the ship’s two Garden Villas. The ship will home port in Boston for cruises to Bermuda until October and in New Orleans for Caribbean cruises after that.
