It’s always a special event when a new tall ship hits the waves and Sea Cloud Cruises has the Spirit.
Sea Cloud Spirit, a new sailing ship with 43,000 square feet of sail area will launch in 2020. The 136 guest three-master will be a sister to Sea Cloud II, with 69 outside cabins, 25 of them with balconies.
The ship is being built at Metalships & Docks S.A.U. in Vigo Spain on a hull originally designated to be Sea Cloud Hussar. When not travelling under sail power, the ship will use an eco-friendly hybrid diesel electric engine.
“Sea Cloud Spirit is arriving at the right time,” says Daniel Schäfer, Managing Director of Hamburg-based Sea Cloud Cruises. The existing two ships, Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II are in high demand from both independent travelers and in the charter market.
The first sailing is slated for summer 2020.
