Royal Caribbean International will expand its ultimate beach day collection with the launch of a Royal Beach Club in Antigua.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Antigua and Barbuda for the project, which is scheduled to open in 2021. It’s the first of a planned series of Royal Beach Clubs that will highlight the unique features and flavors of the destination, that will compliment the Perfect Day at Coco Cay private island in the Bahamas.
“The Royal Beach Club Collection is an adventure we cannot wait to reveal to our guests,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. Set along a half mile of Antigua beachfront near Fort James, the multimillion-dollar beach complex will feature local food and music, family activities, and custom attractions. Guests can enjoy private cabanas or plunge into a stunning pool and swim up to the bar. Details will be announced in coming months.
It’s part of a long term Royal Caribbean vision, with cruise tourism anticipated to grow by 50 per cent in the Caribbean over the next decade. Through land-based destinations, such as Royal Caribbean’s recently announced Perfect Day Lelepa in the South Pacific, and the new Royal Beach Club concept, the company is supporting its expanding fleet of award-winning, innovative ships, Bayley said.
