Call them the ultimate Grand Tours. AmaWaterways has had such overwhelming response to its longest-ever river cruise itineraries that they’re adding a third one. The 46- and 47-night explorations of Europe’s major rivers in 2023 have been a phenomenon says Kristin Karst, executive vice-president and co-founder of AmaWaterways.

“We are delighted to offer yet another opportunity for travelers to immerse themselves in the beautiful regions of Europe during one of my favorite times of year, the delightful autumn season,” she says.

The initial two editions of the Seven River Journey Through Europe will take 144 guests on a curated journey including 14 countries in the summer of 2023. The added autumn journey will begin on Oct. 9, 2023.

Because of logistics, the trips are  not all aboard the same ship, however. The first begins  June 1, 2023, it starts on the AmaLyra on a week-long Seine round trip from Paris. Then guests switch to the Saône and Rhône rivers on AmaKristina from Lyon to Tarascon, France.

Next, guests transfer to the AmaPrima for two weeks on the Rhine, Moselle and Main rivers, including Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Then it’s on to two more weeks on AmaVerde sailing the length of the Danube River, including Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

The voyage is inspired by the AmaWaterways’ president  Rudi Schreiner, who personally selected a menu of 130 complimentary shore excursions guests can choose from, many of them new and exclusive to the line. Highlights include sailing through the romantic city of Paris, visiting the historic D-Day landing beaches of Normandy, being treated to an exclusive visit to Lahneck Castle in Germany, and visiting off-the-beaten-path wonders in countries such as Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

In addition to fine dining and selected wines at every meal in multiple onboard venues, a wellness host and dedicated cruise manager for the trip, the voyage will also include seamless transfers between ships; complimentary laundry and portage service; as well as all gratuities onboard and during shore excursions.

“At AmaWaterways, we continually anticipate the needs of our guests and always strive to provide innovative experiences that push industry standards. With the pent-up demand for travel we are seeing and the increase in requests for our longer cruises, we feel this is the perfect time to introduce our incredible, all-new Seven River Journey,” said Schreiner. Rates for the autumn cruise start at $37,439  Canadian per guest.
