A new concept on the coming Celebrity Xcel will be unlike anything at sea, offering guests activities to “explore the world before you even get there,” Celebrity Cruises promises,
The Bazaar is a three-level, multi-sensory space designed to physically transform several times over the course of each sailing to introduce travelers to experiences inspired by the destinations they visit. No two days in the zone will be the same, with non-stop activities, regionally inspired culinary experiences, entertainment and unique festivals that bring to life the sights, sounds, flavors and traditions of the places visited, Celebrity says.
Details are still being finalized but Xcel’s Bazaar appears to replace the area at the stern known as Eden on Celebrity’s current Edge Class ships.
Among highlights of The Bazaar being revealed in advance of Celebrity Xcel’s November debut are:
Four New Festivals: Inspired by Caribbean destinations and traditions, each festival will include uniquely local snacks and drinks, crafting experiences, cooking and dance classes, entertainment and musical performances.
Market At The Bazaar: Local artisans will come onboard during sea days for immersive shopping experiences like basket weaving and craft demonstrations and authentic goods like Caribbean masks and traditional leather hats.
Mosaic: This is a new, open-kitchen dining concept serving dishes from the destinations visited and will include specialty Chef’s Table experiences with tasting menus and Chef’s Studio, Celebrity’s first-ever destination-inspired cooking school. Celebrity’s first-ever destination inspired cooking school. Chef’s Studio invites guests to learn how to prepare new dishes from each destination they visit. Throughout the sailing, the cooking school repertoire will change to reflect the destination-inspired festival themes.
Spice, a new casual dining concept, will offer a daytime selection of rotating bites with special items inspired by the ports visited on the itinerary. A breathtaking café on the water’s edge, the inviting new seating area at Spice features floor-to-ceiling windows at the water’s edge.
To enhance the immersive experience, Celebrity is asking guests to become Dream Makers, a community consultation to help shape the festival entertainment, market activities, menu items and surprises. Those interested in joining can register at Xcel Dream Makers.
Celebrity Xcel begins sailing from Fort Lauderdale Nov. 18 for a season of week-long Caribbean cruises. Xcel does a trans-Atlantic in April and starts a spring and summer season in the Mediterranean.
