In a city filled with big corporate hotels, a compact new contender wants to stand out as unique and personal. Miami Beach’s Metropolitan by COMO has opened after 18 months of renovation of the former 1939 Art Deco Traymore hotel into a 72-room standout on the Collins Avenue beach row, ideal for pre- or post-cruise stays.
This is one of only four urban hotels in the COMO group, which made a reputation with luxury resorts in exotic locations like the Maldives, Bali, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Like its relatives, the hotel puts the emphasis on luxury and wellness, says Javier Beneyto, the hotel’s general manager. Standout features include the Traymore seafood restaurant, and the COMO Shambhala Spa. “We take great pride in personal service and we don’t tell our staff to just go by the book. We want to provide unique experiences.” he says.
