Cruise Lines are Getting Racy in Europe

Aston Martim Aramco Formula 1 car will be onboard Seven Seas Splendor --Regent Seven Seas

Explora Journeys is getting into race mode to celebrate the arrival of Explora II, its second luxury ship this summer. The new small-ship ocean travel brand is the Global Partner of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup, that takes place in the waters off Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team are hosting a racing themed cruise, complete with a replica car on the ship and specialty shore experiences in Monte Carlo.

The enrichment programs on these voyages include opportunities to get close to the action. Regent’s 10-night cruise on Seven Seas Splendor departing Barcelona for Rome on July 22, 2025 will include a meet-and-greet and Q&A with former F1 driver Pedro de la Rosa and members of his racing team, along with a simulator for guests to test their driving skills on a virtual circuit. Engineers and executives from Aston Martin will hold workshops about innovation and design.

The famed America’s Cup trophy will be onboard EXPLORA I on June 19th, 2024, marking the beginning of a series of events in Barcelona, including a dedicated Explora Journeys area of the Official Race Village. Barcelona will also be a regular port for the new EXPLORA II, to be launched in August and sailing into the autumn in the Mediterranean.

The partnership includes the display of the Explora Journeys logo during the race broadcasts. There will also be exclusive festivities and luxurious VIP hospitality provided by Explora Journeys.

America’s Cup is a global spectacle whose famous motto is There is no Second. Teams from the United States, the U.K., Italy, Switzerland, and France will race for supremacy in the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Series before the ultimate showdown. The triumphant challenger earns the right to face off against the defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the famed Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Match.

“Our ambition at Explora Journeys is to redefine luxury at sea,” says Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the MSC Group cruise division. “Like the design of the America’s Cup yachts, it is an ongoing, evolving challenge that we embrace with passion and dedication. With vessels like EXPLORA I and the upcoming EXPLORA II, we are committed to setting new benchmarks in design and craftsmanship, sharing the same passion as the America`s Cup for maritime innovation and the relentless pursuit of perfection.”

Both Explora ships will spend the winter in the Caribbean sailing from Miami, San Juan and Bridgetown. Journeys start at seven nights and can extend to 14 or 21 nights.

Seven Seas Splendor is doing northern Europe voyages in the summer of 2024 before spending the winter exploring Africa and South America. A 2025 summer season in the Med will be followed by fall cruises from Montreal to New York and Boston.
