First sailing in 2028 and Already Sold Out?

Scenic Ikon features a busy rear sports deck--Scenic Group

With a secret announcement to insiders, Scenic Group revealed its latest luxury exploration ship Scenic Ikon, will join the Scenic Discovery Yacht Fleet for its inaugural season in 2028. And its inaugural voyage from Venice in April 2028 is apparently already sold out.

The new five-deck vessel carrying only 270 guests is designed redefine luxury expedition cruising, Scenic Group founder and chairman Glen Moroney says. “This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development by our team… Every element of Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimized to deliver unrivaled experiences across diverse destinations and environments, from its primary base, the Mediterranean, to the wilds of Antarctica.”

The Scenic Discovery Yacht is being purpose-built to excel in both polar regions and warm water destinations. It’s engineered and rated Polar Code 6 with an Ice Class 1A Super strengthened hull, and will be equipped with two Airbus H130-T2 helicopters, a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs, and luxurious superyacht Fassmer tenders.

Construction of Scenic Ikon is well underway, at MKM Yachts Ltd., a division of Scenic Group in Croatia. Milestones include a steel-cutting ceremony in February 2025 attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and the keel laying in May 2025.

The 672-foot-long ship will host up to 270 guests in 135 all-verandah suites ranging from 111 square feet to 820 square feet over five decks. There will be 15 distinctive dining venues, expansive lounges and vibrant relaxation spaces, each reflecting Scenic’s truly all-inclusive philosophy, Moroney says. A two-level Senses Rejuvenation Spa, will feature signature spa therapies, hydrotherapy and thermal experiences.

The maiden season includes sailings through to March 2029 that will visit 110 ports, 21 countries, and 26 new destinations. Including the Mediterranean, Aegean and Egypt, the Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and the Chilean Fjords.

Newly unveiled features include exclusive helicopter landings at renowned golf courses, celebrated local restaurants, and historic landmarks — together with access to some of the world’s most remote and breathtaking wilderness regions. These experiences are included for Chairman’s Club members, and for guests in the Penthouse and Owner’s Suites. The  submersible, Scenic Neptune III — a Triton AVA-9 — will invite guests to explore the hidden depths of Antarctica and beyond.

The early sailings are already on sale at pre-release pricing. Guests taking advantage of the Super Earlybird offers will enjoy a complimentary helicopter flight. For details on the inaugural 2028-29 Scenic Ikon Collection, a brochure is available at www.scenicikon.com.
