The numbers are staggering. Carnival’s private Caribbean port Celebration Key can now dock four mega-ships a day and see over 13,000 guests a day hitting the beaches and attractions.
Only open for a year, Carnival’s private beach attraction on Grand Bahama has just doubled the capacity of its pier. The expansion will add about 200 ship calls a year and the number of annual arrivals will swell from 2.5 million to a projected 3.5-million.
The added pier capacity was built ahead of schedule because of growing demand for Caribbean beach days, Carnival says.
Carnival Corporation has 10 ships on order, including a new class of Princess Cruises ships scheduled for delivery in 2035, 2038 and 2039. It is also spending $500 million upgrading six Holland America Line ships.
“Celebration Key is one of the centerpieces of our Paradise Collection—a bold destination built to redefine what a Caribbean vacation can feel like,” said Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation.
“From a mile of white sand beach to the Caribbean’s largest freshwater lagoons and five distinct experience portals, every part of Celebration Key was designed to deliver something unforgettable. Finishing the pier extension ahead of schedule gives us a real jump on meeting the extraordinary demand we’re seeing and allows us to bring even more guests to this unique Bahamian paradise sooner than expected,” he says. Three- and four-ship arrival days start September, 2026.
Weinstein adds that updates to the company’s private destination portfolio are continuing. Carnival has also just expanded another private resort, RelaxAway,Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. The improvements there include a pier big enough for Carnival’s largest ships that carry over 5,000 guests each to dock.
