A new riverboat described as a floating boutique hotel will start exploring the Amazon in 2025 as Abercrombie & Kent’s first South American ship. Featuring 10 double cabins and two single cabins, the as-yet unnamed ship is being built of local materials in collaboration with Galapagos expedition yacht company Ecoventura.
The three and four-night itineraries will explore the enigmatic backwaters and lush landscapes of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, encountering abundant wildlife and engaging with indigenous communities. The riverboat that promises a 1 to 1 guest to staff ratio features indoor and outdoor lounges and bars and an outdoor swimming pool, gym and wellness experiences inspired by Amazonian traditions. The onboard dining will feature menus that celebrate the diverse culinary heritage of the Amazon, A&K adds.
“This venture embodies our unwavering commitment to delivering experiences that are not only luxurious but also deeply enriching and sustainable says Cristina Levis, CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. A&K is committed to supporting sustainable development, education, and conservation initiatives that uplift local communities and protect the Amazon’s invaluable cultural and natural treasures for generations to come.
The voyages can be combined with a land portion exploring both the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, with all journeys conveniently starting and ending in the port town of Nauta, a short transfer from the city of Iquitos, home to the nearest airport.
Bookings for the ship, due to begin sailing in April, 2025, will open in June. Details are on the A&K website.
