Norwegian Cruise Line revealed the evolution of the Prima Class with the new Norwegian Aqua. The first of an expanded Prima Plus Class sets sail in April, 2025.
Bookings are open for Norwegian Aqua’s first voyages to the Caribbean with seven-day itineraries departing from Port Canaveral. Itineraries include calls to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Tortola, St. Thomas, and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas.
Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri will construct this next-generation Prima Plus Class, building on the award-winning experiences of Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. Norwegian Aqua will have an overall 10 per cent size and capacity increase from its sister ships, accommodating 3,571 guests at double occupancy, Norwegian Aqua will offer more outdoor space and what Norwegian boasts will be the highest staffing levels of any new contemporary cruise ship.
Norwegian Aqua will not have a racetrack on the upper decks like those found on Prima Class shps. Instead, there will be what NCL describes as the world’s first hybrid roller-coaster and waterslide, the Aqua Slidecoaster.
“Norwegian Aqua is a true testament of fusing together what represents the future of our brand and our commitment to pushing the boundaries in guest-first experiences that will make new waves at sea,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
