Silversea Cruises has unveiled plans for its first-ever ship lengthening.
And two other ships in Silversea’s fleet will get comprehensive makeovers in December.
In March, 2018, Silver Spirit will be lengthened by inserting a prebuilt 49-foot-long midsection to add six Silver Suites, 26 Veranda Suites and two Panorama Suites. The extra length will also add new dining options and public spaces and more outdoor areas.
Based on feedback from guests sailing aboard the new Silver Muse, “we believe the comprehensive makeover we have planned for Silver Spirit will enrich the onboard experience and be equally appreciated by guests. They will see many of Silver Muse’s innovations and elevated comforts embodied by our reimagined Silver Spirit,” said Christian Sauleau, Silversea’s executive vice-president of fleet operations.
The line’s new flagship features play into the redesigns of Silver Wind and Silver Whisper. Many of the public areas will take inspiration from the Silver Muse décor, including carpet replacements, and upgrades of La Terrazza, Observation Lounge, and Panorama. The upscale refurbishment will include extensive suite upgrades.
Technical improvements will include a new lighting system and new privacy divider systems for the suite balconies. Enhancements will include new Casino décor, and upgrades in the Spa and Salon.
“The lengthening of a ship always entails a rare level of complexity in a sector with already high technological content as the cruise one is,” said Giorgio Rizzo, senior vice-president services for Fincanteri shpbuilding group, whose Palermo shipyard will do the stretch. “We are particularly proud of it because we will supervise it entirely, from design to its full execution, to the delivery to the ship owner.”
