It’s always been the best ongoing cocktail party at sea and increasingly it’s becoming the seagoing choice to charter for celebrating milestone events with a 100 or so of your best friends.
SeaDream Yacht Club now runs as much of 25 per cent of its cruises as private parties, says President Bob Lepisto.
“More guests are taking advantage of the ideal size, style and atmosphere SeaDream delivers with a full charter whether it is celebrating milestone events with close friends or extended family,” or with a corporate group.
They’ve even arranged surprise parties in which guests and the lucky birthday boy or girl are invited for a SeaDream voyage, and only when they board discover it’s their own private celebration.
Smaller groups can also reserve multiple staterooms for an inclusive experience without taking over the entire 112-guest yacht for a full charter.
You’ve got to plan in advance, Lepisto says. Currently, the ship is arranging charters for the 2018 season. And the price: about $1.5-million.
A Charter Co-ordinator assists in every aspect, from the custom itinerary to on-board activities to special dining preferences to entertainment options. Custom shore excursions in locations seldom visited by larger ships can be arranged, such as hiking with a naturalist in Saba’s rain forest or strolling thru hidden villages of Sicily.
