Sliding into the tub and looking around at the extensive detailing of the bathroom in an elegant suite on Regent’s Seven Seas Explorer reveals a host of exclusive and steal-able design tips for creating a dream space in your own home.

Sure, marble is wonderful if you can afford it, as are dual sinks so you and hubby aren’t fighting for a faucet. But there are many more good ideas in the details from Tillberg Design of Sweden, who elegantly merge opulence and practicality for Regent Seven Seas ships.

The luxurious space and detailing is not reserved just for the bathrooms of a few super suites, but are found in a majority of  the accommodations on Explorer as well as sister ship Seven Seas Splendor.

Here are eight takeaways:

1) Stretch your counter space

Extending your countertop as far as possible beyond the length of the vanity cabinet below gives you the luxury of ample room to organize toiletries and cosmetics.  Go for the wall.

2) Think drawers, not cupboards for the vanity

Pull-out drawers make reaching all the way to the back much easier and eliminate the need to crouch on the floor. The more drawers you have, the more stuff you can stash.

3) Stretch the limits on height

Have at least one set of drawers tall enough for your aerosols, large bottles and toilet roll packs. Make its false front look like two or even three low drawers to match the rest of the drawers. Be sure any drawers around the sink plumbing are not too deep for the pipes, though.

4) Capture the air space

Run a narrow open shelf above the counter across the entire length of your sink wall for all those little items that would otherwise clutter the counter top. A good touch in Regent’s design is a separate bin for stashing fresh wash cloths.

5) Reclaim the space below

Sneak a narrow open shelf into a niche below the counter. This is normally wasted space around the sink basin.

6) Go really big with the mirror

Who really needs that tiny old-fashioned medicine cabinet mirror anyway? Cover the whole wall with it.

7) Build in shelf nooks

The space between joists in your shower and tub enclosure can be liberated for storage. One shelf for him, one for her, and one for the children makes keeping shampoos, conditioners and bath treats easily sorted.

8) Be generous with the lighting

A choice of lighting includes flattering vertical lighting for doing your makeup in the bathroom. Provide multiple options and a subtle night light for navigating in the middle of the night.

Regent Seven Seas all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Explorer is exploring Alaska in the summer of 2024 before sifting to Asia with a series of Japan cruises and Australia itineraries in the winter. Seven Seas Splendor, is exploring Northern Europe and then heading around Africa to Cape Town and on to a winter season in South America.
